Adidas Kids 360

My friend Will Samuel asked me to collaborate on a project for Adidas under his direction. My main tasks were re-meshing the shoes that had been given to us as very high polygon 3D models. So I could deform and animate the shoes and we could experiment with the shape. I also re-textured the shoes to fit in with the style that Will had put together. Then we animated and comped the final footage.

Unfortunately after completing a final delivery of the video Adidas had a change of heart on the overall design. The second video we made added depth and typography to the initial designs and gave the video a softer look.

Neither of the videos were ever released so I took some gifs of some of my favorite parts because it was a lot of fun to make and I don't want it to be a waste.

WIPs

The style of the first film was 2D but we used C4D and 3D models to get it looking right.

The second film we made had a re-textured set of shoes. We used soft shadow maps and blended with with passes of the flat colored shoes, to get a cool soft 3D effect.

I used the cage deformer in C4D and made a low poly cage around the shoe to deform certain parts.
